Knowing what you know

February 1 - March 15, 2025

“I have not been doing very much at pictures for about three weeks. But—I have been painting just the same. I've painted the kitchen chairs, the water pump, the step-on can, and the outside of the kitchen sink, a combination of jade green and dove grey.”
—Ella Southworth

Chris Sharp Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition by the LA-based painter Anna Glantz.

For her second show at the gallery, Glantz will present a suite of new paintings, which all follow a landscape format. Loosely connected by a fluctuating horizon line, the works are also characterized by dense, built up surfaces, a similarity of scale, and a sense of sculptural embeddedness. Increasingly mysterious, what she depicts has almost more to do with structure and materiality than image production, which is nevertheless an important concern, but which has receded further from the threshold of comprehension than ever.
